About Me

Howdy. My name is Jennifer Loyd. I am a freelance (emphasis on free) writer, horticulturist, educator and a farmer with an inferiority complex. As in, my “land” is really small. Just a suburban backyard actually, and I am a foodie who has fallen hard for the locavore movement. But I do have chickens and an outbuilding that I refer to as the barn. And sometimes, as I schlep a bucket of water out to the chickens at 7 am in 10 degree weather, I think “surely, this makes me a farmer.”

When I am not outside, I am cooking, baking, pickling, fermenting, canning and otherwise chained to the kitchen by the compulsion to produce. What little time is left in the day is devoted to writing, making small amounts of money, running, yoga, and reading.

Please feel free to contact me at ayearofmonths (at) gmail (dot) com.

  1. Glad to hear you are getting time for introspection. I hope it gives you the focus and drive for your life’s work.
